Crossing Germany
We set off from Luxembourg at around 7pm and planned to drive for at least 4 hours on our way to Prague. We made good progress on the fast German autobahn. When you think you are going really fast to overtake a truck, a car travelling at 180mph will suddenly appear behind you, and you will need to hastily pull in.
We have recently learned that lorries are not allowed on German autobahn on Sundays. So that is something worth bearing in mind when we plan to travel across Germany again.
It seemed unlikely we could find somewhere to watch the Scotland vs Morocco game at midnight German time, so we looked to find somewhere to stop and watch it in the van on the laptop. We identified (with help from the park4night app) a small town, Herrieden, a short distance off the motorway which allowed campervans and motorhomes to stay on its large carpark, otherwise used for markets and fairs. We walked into town to see if there was any bars open but the whole town seemed fast asleep. We went back to the van and fortunately our phone reception was good enough to provide a hotspot to the laptop. Scotland played well in the second half despite being unable to counter conceding a goal in the second minute.
We were awoken at 6 am by church bells; must be an early to bed, early to rise type of place.
