There's so many fantastic castles in Wales. I've previously visited Caernarfon and Beaumaris on Anglesey. Like those two, Conwy Castle has many walkways, staircases and dungeons to explore and great views from the ramparts.

When I was a child we regularly travelled to the Lynn Penninsula to visit Pwllheli, the home of my Granny Mint and 'did I tell you the story about being swallowed by a whale' Grandad. Portmerion, the folly village used in the 1960s show the Prisoner, is one of my all time favourite places. Great for wandering round the brightly coloured houses and surrounding woodland and shore. You can stay here in a campervan. 

This trip we chose to stay at Black Sands Bay Touring and Camping which, located behind an embankment, doesn't have a beach view but is adjacent to a very long stretch of sand, which was being used for car racing when we visited.  Note they don't allow the filling of water balloons.
