Bohemian Paradise
This is the actual name of a protected area of natural beauty in the Czech Republic. We hadn't heard of this area before until we were told about it by a Welsh couple who we met on the campsite in Prague. The area has been designated a UNESCO geopark as there are many unusual rock features where the sandstone has been shaped by water, wind, erosion and people. We went to part of the region to see the Prachov Rocks. While walking through the rocks provided some respite from the heat, it was still a hot day and we were both feeling grumpy (with each other), so we were walking together but not closely together. We were able to appreciate the stunning rock formations though and in parts I felt like Bilbo trekking into Smaug's cave.
We had also been recommended to stay at Camping Svitacka near Trosky Castle. On arrival we were informed, through google translate, that we could stay but there was a group of 30 Ukrainian teenagers staying next to us. In fact, school groups just seemed to keep arriving out of the woods, so the campsite was full of around 100 children of all ages from 6 to 17. Not quite the peaceful setting we had been told about, yet it was interesting to see the young children who were from a Waldolf school in Prague, playing with axes and playing tennis with an invisible ball. The teacher cooked pasta in a pot over the fire, and as the children came up in groups with there metal pots to collect their dinner, I was intrigued to see that it fed around 40.
